Biography
Kestur Gundappa Satyanarayana (Dr. K.G. Satyanarayana) is Ph.D.(Physics-Metallurgical Engg.) from the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (1972) and presently Honorary Professor at the Poornaprajna Institute for Scientific Research (PPISR), Bangalore. Previously he was with the Regional Research Laboratory, Trivandrum of the CSIR, Government of India in several positions, including the post of Director of the laboratory, until his retirement in October 2002. Thereafter, he was Visiting Professor (June 2003-June 2007) in the Chemistry Department at the UFRN (Curitiba-Brazil) and FINEP Visiting Researcher (April 2008-September 2009). Recently, he was Visiting Scientist at EMBRAPA, Colombo, Brazil during Nov. 2012- April 2013; also Consulting Chief Scientist Acharya R&D Center, Acharya Group of Institutes, Bangalore (India) and Head, R&D Center in B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore (India) during the period 2007-2011. Guided students for Master s and Doctoral programs and taught post-graduates in PIPE of the University. Has published about 360 papers scientific journals and proceedings of Conferences, edited / contributed to about 32 books / monographs till 2016. He has 126 articles with 2600 citations in Peer reviewed Journals with scientific factor H = 28 (based on 4th March 2016- ISI - ISI/ Web of Science). He has 18 patents and guided ten students for Ph.D. and five for Masters Degree. Presently Editorial member of the Open Journal of Polymer Chemistry and Member of Reviewer-Int. J. Expt. Spect. Techniques. He was co-editor of the book Clay Surfaces Fundamentals and Applications, Academic Press [2004]. Recipient of a number of awards and honors including WIPO Gold medal. Life Member of various Professional Bodies and invited Reviewer for more than 30 international Reviewed Journals.
Research Interest
His areas of interest include Composites both Metal Matrix and polymer matrix with natural fibers. In recent years his emphasis has been on Green composites, biofuels and development of new materials based on agro-industrial waste.
