Dr. Sandeep Kumar is a chemical engineer and currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Old Dominion University, VA. As Director, Energy Cluster at Frank Batten College of Engineering, Old Dominion University, Dr. Kumar is working on interdisciplinary research, energy related courses, and outreach activities. Dr. Kumar possesses nearly twenty years of professional experience in industry, R&D, and academic research in the area of carbon black, nuclear fuels, and biofuels with responsibilities in new process development, process engineering and project management. Dr. Kumar started his professional career in 1994 as a process engineer and was a certified project management professional (PMP®) between year 2007 - 2011. Dr. Kumar earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University, AL in May 2010. Dr. Kumar serves as reviewer/panelist for several scientific international journals and grant agencies. He has successfully secured more than $1.5M of external research grants including the prestigious NSF CAREER award. Dr. Kumar has been awarded 2 patents, and has published 5 book chapters, 30 peer-reviewed journal publication, and more than 50 conference presentations in the area of biofuels.

Dr. Kumar’s research focuses on the application of sub- and supercritical water technology for the conversion of biomass/algae to advanced biofuels and bioproducts. Dr. Kumar’s areas of interest are supercritical fluids (CO2 and water), biofuels, biodiesel, hydrodeoxygenation of lipids for green diesel, and the applications of chemical and environmental engineering concepts to produce renewable fuels. His expertise is in high temperature and high pressure reactions involving biomass components such as proteins, lipids, cellulose, hemicelluloses, and lignin.

Dr. Gude is a faculty member of civil and environmental engineering at Mississippi State University. He has both chemical and environmental engineering backgrounds with over 15 years of academic, industrial, and research experiences on various chemical and environmental engineering projects. He serves on numerous scientific advisory boards/committees at national and international stages. His research over the past 10 years resulted in national and international recognition, industry collaborations, 2 granted patents and over 100 scholarly publications including several invited book chapters. He is a licensed professional engineer and a board certified environmental engineer (aka Diplomate of Environmental Engineer) by the American Academy of Environemntal Engineers and Scientists, AAEES.

His research interests include sustainable chemistry of biofuels especially biodiesel synthesis using novel technologies, exploring the bioelectrovhemical procesees at the nexus of energy, environemnt and water systems, developing sustainable low temperature membrane and microbial desalination processes and sustainability of water and energy systems.

Dr Abhay Kumar Choubey is Associate Professor of Chemistry at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Jais, Amethi, India. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry-Applied Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) and earned his postdoctoral in Petroleum Engineering area from Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, India and University of Kansas, USA respectively. Dr. Choubey has worked as Assistant Professor, Petrochemistry in the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun for four years. He is having 14 years of teaching and research experience. Dr. Choubey is a member, technical committee of Bureau of Indian Standard and is in the editorial board of two international journals of Petroleum Engineering. His areas of expertise include Organic synthesis, Petrochemistry, Bio-fuel, Hydrogen fuel, Water shut-off, EOR/IOR, etc. He has completed research projects, reviewed research papers, evaluated a mega project of one of the pioneer academic institutions of India and guided several undergraduate major projects and postgraduate dissertations. Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Salford, UK, in 1992. He is a professor at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Science Malaysia. He leads the Reaction Engineering & Adsorption (READ) research group. He has also been appointed as a Guest Professor at Yunan Minzu University, China for the period of 2014—2017. His research interest is in Reaction Engineering and Adsorption Technology, especially issues related to Energy and Environment. Professor Bassim has been included by Thomson Reuters in their prestigious list of Highly Cited Researchers 2016, 2015 & 2014. Professor Bassim has been also listed in Thomson Reuters’s “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds 2015 & 2014”. He has successfully supervised the works of 5 postdoctoral fellows, 14 Ph.D., 28 MSc students, and more than 70 final-year research projects to completion. He has achieved a milestone of 18 research grants as a principal investigator. To date, he has published more than 225 articles in ISI-indexed journals. He has also published 100 articles in other international and national journals and proceedings. Professor Bassim’s publications have been cited over 14,975 times (Scopus database), and 41 of these articles were cited more than 100 times each. He has an author h-index of 65, and an i10-index of 175.

Balasubramanian Periyasamy has completed the doctoral research entitled “Modeling and simulation of hydrocracking process” at Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2004 and later, he worked as a postdoc at LPT, Gent University, Belgium. Presently, he is working as a faculty in School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University, Dubai. Besides, he has worked as a faculty in Chemical Engineering at universities such as IIT Guwahati, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Malaysia. Dr. Emin Taner ELMAS whose job title is DR. Mechanical Engineer, M.Sc., Ph.D., was born in 25/06/1974 in Sivas / Turkey. He has graduated from faculty of Mechanical Engineering as B.Sc. in 1995 and then completed his M.Sc. in “Energy” at Mechanical Engineering Department of Dokuz Eylül University in İzmir, Turkey and after that he received his Ph.D. in “Thermodynamics” at Mechanical Engineering Department of Ege University, in İzmir, Turkey. Dr.ELMAS, has worked in various industrial companies at different scope of supply, sectors, subjects and at different positions, e.g. Site Chief, Project Manager, Management Representative, Quality Manager, Factory Manager, Energy Manager, R&D Manager (CSO-Chief Science Officer , CTO-Chief Technology Officer), Business Development Manager (CBDO-Chief Business Development Officer), Deputy General Manager and General Manager. Dr. Obed Majeed Ali obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Internal Combustion Engine and Alternative Fuels) in 2014 from University Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia. After finishing his PhD., he worked as a senior lecturer at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering-University Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia.
